Sign up now open for the VUMC OUTlist, a new effort to promote LGBTQ inclusion at Vanderbilt
The Vanderbilt Program for LGBTQ Health and the VUMC Office for Diversity Affairs are working to create the first OUTlist for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center! The VUMC OUTlist will be used to increase visibility of the LGBTQ community at VUMC, help LGBTQ individuals connect to mentors and resources, and build community among VUMC's LGBTQ employees and allies. If you have any questions, you can email Del Ray Zimmerman, Director of the Program for LGBTQ Health at email@example.com or Pepper J. Heifner, Associate Program Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The OUTlist is a publicly available list of members of our healthcare community at VUMC who openly identify as part of the LGBTQ community or as an ally. An ally is a person who actively supports the rights of a marginalized community even though that person is not a member of that community. In this context, an LGBTQ ally is a heterosexual, cisgender person who campaigns for the rights of LGBTQ people -- including their peers, colleagues, and patients.
If you are interested in being on the VUMC OUTList, you can fill out this REDCap form: https://redcap.link/vumcOUTlist
Faculty, staff, and residents at VUMC, as well as students at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine and Vanderbilt School of Nursing, are welcome to sign up.
Although this form will stay open indefinitely to allow for new students and employees to join, the goal of organizers is to upload the first version of the list onto the Program for LGBTQ Health website in March, so please sign up as soon as you can!
